Festival of Small Halls Southport
Australia’s largest dedicated regional music tour, Festival of Small Halls, is coming to Southport, featuring master Scandinavian musicians Fru Skagerrak and Australia rock and roll legend in the making, Liam Gerner. Produced by Woodfordia Inc, the much-loved regional music tour rekindles the time-old tradition of gathering in the local small hall for a special night of live music, storytelling and community connection.
“Quite simply put, the opportunity to enjoy musicians of this quality just isn’t regularly available in regional towns. It’s only possible with the support of Woodford Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival and Illawarra Folk Festival and of course, the dedicated regional communities taking their towns into their own hands and lighting up their local halls” Excited to create their inaugural musical pairing for the Summer Tour 2019, Fru Skagerrak and Liam Gerner are preparing for a unique tour of Australia’s small halls.
Fru Skagerrak takes you on a journey through Scandinavia; from lowlands to mountains, from slow airs to roaring polkas, and everything in between. Three master musicians from each of the Scandinavian countries – the result is an explosion of the sounds that exist in Scandinavian traditional music today.
Liam’s a 35 year old singer songwriter who’s toured his story songs and played guitar for artists through Europe, USA and Australia including Ryan Bingham, Paul Weller, Jason Isbell, Robbie Fulks and more. He’s released two albums and a book of original songs ‘Ukulele Songs By Kids For Kids’.
Festival of Small Halls Southport will be supported by Blloom.
